About Me
I come to work every day to solve the biggest problem in a digital world. Weak Cyber Security. The problem is that business owners don’t know what information and systems they have, how to protect their data, or if they are carrying unnecessary levels of risk. Technical staff don’t know how to configure systems securely, how to layer defences to reduce the impact of an attack, or how to identify security vulnerabilities. And users don’t know how to safeguard data, spot phishing emails, or set strong memorable passwords.
Whatever you refer to it as – Cyber Security, Data Security, Information Security, Data Protection or Privacy – my mission is to help my clients and their team develop and implement effective security solutions in order to better protect themselves and their businesses against cyber-crime.
My name is Lee Hezzlewood, and I provide practical, proportionate and pragmatic cyber security and data protection advice to small and medium businesses here in the UK. I have over 30 years working in IT and Cyber Security roles, so I’ve seen a lot of the good, the bad and the ugly when it comes to security across a huge array of business areas.
In addition to setting up the Secure Thinking Academy have recently been involved in writing the Data Security elements of Suzanne Dibble’s GDPR for Dummies book, published by Wiley.
My Why
What is my why? That’s easy, I want to completely eliminate the human element in data security breaches. Is this achievable? Let’s see! But I firmly believe with an emphasis on practical advice, training and awareness that looks to improve habits, and a genuine commitment from businesses to improve their security we can seriously reduce the 80% of cyber security and data protection breaches that are caused by the people in organisations around the world.
